The year ended with the first competition in the internal print league, judged by Rosie Armes from Chichester, well qualified to give an expert opinion as she is a FRPS, EFIAP/s, DPAGB, BPE3*. It was a portrait competition and the winners, all with top marks for their strong images, were 1, Jim Pascoe with ‘Mike’; 2,Barbara Hawkins with a portrait of fellow club member ‘Brian’, and 3, Nicky Pascoe with ‘Hannah with Parasol’. Competition was high, however, as six club members gained scores of 9.5 out of 10and as a whole the club members put up a very good show.The following week saw the Christmas Social at Hoburne Naish with a skittles evening.

The club is still doing well in the Southern Photographic Federation Digital Competition having won all three heats so far against clubs as far away as Horndean and Newbury. NorriePhillips is reaping more individual success...he had five acceptances at one of the prestigious competitions staged by Smethwick, and was awarded the silver selector’s medal to add to his growing collection.

Meetings start again on Wednesday January 11th with an illustrated talk on underwater photography by guest speakers Spike and Penny Piddock. The following week will see Round 2 in the Print League, which is also ‘The battle of the Sexes’, the ladies versus the gentlemen. The ladies won last year.

The club meets every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Bashley Village Hall, at the entrance to the football club, Bashley Road, B3058, Bashley, New Milton, BH25 5RY. The club programme of internal and external competitions, talks and workshops continues until the end of June when the summer break starts, though there are informal events planned before the club year starts again in September.
